There are moments of stillness, of quiet reflection, that often go unnoticed in the rush of urban life
London is a city that speaks in whispers. It’s in the way the early morning fog rolls over the Thames, muting the sounds of the waking city. It’s in the fleeting moments when the streets of Soho are empty just before the crowds arrive, or when the light breaks through the clouds over Hyde Park, casting a soft glow on the dew-covered grass. These are the moments that often go unnoticed, but they carry with them a sense of tranquility, a reminder that even in the heart of a busy city, there is space for quiet reflection. City Whispers is my attempt to capture these fleeting moments, to document the stillness that exists beneath the surface of the city’s constant movement.
Film photography was the perfect medium for this project. There’s a certain intimacy that comes with shooting on film—a slower, more deliberate process that mirrors the quiet moments I sought to capture. Unlike digital photography, where images can be instantly reviewed, film forces you to be present in the moment, to trust your instincts and embrace the imperfections. London, with its ever-changing light and unpredictable weather, became a canvas for this approach. The grain of the film added texture to the images, softening the edges of the city and creating a sense of timelessness that felt perfectly aligned with the mood of the project.
